SUMMARY:THE ANIMATED GARDEN
DESCRIPTION:Book Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHE TERMINAL THEATRE PRESENTS\n\n\n\nTHE ANIMATED GARDEN\n\n\n\nby Moonlight Ballet\n\n\n\nThe Animated Garden is an ode to Le Jardin Animé\, a jewel of the classical ballet repertoire first presented in Marius Petipa’s 19th century revival of Le Corsaire. Joey was the first Black man to appear on CBC television in 1954\, as a competitor on “Pick the Stars.” Other TV appearances included the Ed Sullivan Show\, Wayne and Shuster\, and Mister Rogers’ Neighbourhood. We then shift our focus to Heather Cornell. Marking her 70th year\, Cornell reflects on a career spanning more than five decades. Widely recognized for her impact on the evolution of tap dance\, her work bridges improvisation\, composition\, and pedagogy\, honours her mentors\, and distinctly roots tap as the intersection of music\, dance\, and theatre. As co-founder and artistic director of Manhattan Tap\, various solo and collaborative projects\, she’s spent 40+ years abroad and has recently returned to Ontario as her home base\, bringing with her a substantial artistic lineage and international career. \n\n\n\nClosing the evening: Bril Barrett (Chicago) – acclaimed solo artist\, outreach trailblazer\, and leader in training some of the world’s most sought after tap dancers through his company MADD Rhythms\, celebrating 25 years. Barrett’s credits include Riverdance and Imagine Tap\, and in 2024 he received the National Heritage Fellowship\, the United States’ highest honour in the folk and traditional arts. He is widely recognized for connecting contemporary practice with tap dance’s rich Black American roots. \n\n\n\nSPONSOR A SEAT: By purchasing another ticket for our “sponsor a seat” initiative\, you’re helping TRP offer accessibility for more students\, young artists\, and families from underserved regions to experience professional tap dance.  \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nTicket Information\n\n\n\n$48 – plus CIF & HST \n\n\n\nRun time: 90 minutes \n\n\n\nThe balcony and rows D through M in the orchestra are stair access only. SUMMARY:Toronto International Tap Dance Festival presents CONVERGENCE
DESCRIPTION:Book Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTOFFAN RHYTHM PROJECTS PRESENT\n\n\n\nTORONTO INTERNATIONAL TAP DANCE FESTIVAL\n\n\n\nProgram 2: Saturday\, August 22nd – Convergence\n\n\n\nA split bill: Boys’ Club Tap Dance Collective – Laura Donaldson (Calgary)\, Elise McGrenera (Toronto)\, and Veronica Simpson (NYC)\, present Ostinati\, a 30-minute work exploring the cycles that shape lived experience: personal\, emotional\, societal\, and existential\, moving through recurring patterns and shifting perspectives\, drawing on the artists’ own experiences. Their work foregrounds original music and highlights solidarity and community among female-identifying artists. \n\n\n\nClosing the evening is Boston’s Subject: Matter presenting With Far Hand\, both a touring stage work and the company’s sophomore studio recording following 2024’s Songbook. Created by Berklee Master of Music graduates Ian Berg (tap dance) and André Sudol (drums/composition)\, the work explores tap as both movement and sonic composition\, emphasizing the instrument-like qualities of the form through original music\, improvisation\, and contemporary jazz influences. The work expands the boundaries of tap while remaining grounded in its rhythmic lineage and collaborative roots. \n\n\n\nSPONSOR A SEAT: By purchasing another ticket for our “sponsor a seat” initiative\, you’re helping TRP offer accessibility for more students\, young artists\, and families from underserved regions to experience professional tap dance.  \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nTicket Information\n\n\n\n$48 – plus CIF & HST \n\n\n\nRun time: 90 minutes \n\n\n\nThe balcony and rows D through M in the orchestra are stair access only. SUMMARY:DANCER
DESCRIPTION:OH WHAT A RIDE PRODUCTIONS IN ASSOCIATION WITH CROWE’S THEATRE PRESENT\n\n\n\nDANCER\n\n\n\nA MUSICAL IN 10 FURLONGS\n\n\n\nDANCER is the triumphant story of Northern Dancer\, the horse nobody wanted but who overcame doubt\, injury\, and history to become the first Canadian-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby\, in 1964. And he won it in record time! After retirement\, Northern Dancer then went on to become the most successful sire in thoroughbred racing history. Every single horse who raced in the 2026 Kentucky Derby can trace their lineage back to Northern Dancer. \n\n\n\nDANCER is part ballet\, part Broadway musical\, and part rock concert. It’s a musical where the lead character never makes a sound\, a ballet with dialogue\, and a rock concert with songs that sound like The Beatles and Gordon Lightfoot may have written them! \n\n\n\nThe real-life humans of the story include E. P. Taylor\, the legendary Canadian businessman; Winnie Taylor who saw Dancer’s potential long before her husband; Horatio Luro the controversial Argentinian horse trainer; Daryl the archetypical track & race announcer; and the character who best speaks for Dancer\, his quiet\, enigmatic groom\, Bill Brevard. Through their shared determination they form a bond that propels them to greatness\, altering horse-racing history forever. \n\n\n\nThis joyfully original show is written by Jim Betts\, the Dora and Chalmers Award winning playwright and lyricist\, with music by multi-award-winning composer Marek Norman\, and direction and choreography by Emmy-Award nominee Stacey Tookey (So You Think You Can Dance). \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nTicket Information\n\n\n\nBook Tickets Here \n\n\n\n$65-125 – plus service fees\, CIF & HST \n\n\n\n25% off for for Seniors (on select seats) \n\n\n\nThis production has a capacity of 446
